New printing and copying system

Senate House Library has a new and improved print, copy and scanning solution called PaperCut

Senate House Library have replaced all existing MFDs (multi-functional devices) with modern, reliable and more secure machines. All members will have to register their library card to the new system, details of which are available in the PaperCut print guide. Members will only need to register their card once and when this is done any print credit from the old system will be transfered to the new print system.

There are a number of reasons for this change:-

  • Improved reliability

  • Reduction of the University carbon footprint

  • Reduced paper usage

  • Easier to operate

There are quick start guides available online and at the printers to help you with the new system. Should you have any questions or need help using the new print, copy and scanning system, please speak to a member of staff who will be available to assist you.

Where will the new devices be located?


4th floor
  • Service Hall
5th floor
  • Just outside the Tower lift (Re-shelving area)

6th Floor
  • Just outside the Accessibility Suite

Will I have to register my ID card?

A – Yes, but only once. To do this, sign into your library account and follow the instructions in the PaperCut print guide.

Will I have to register each time I want to print?

A – No, you only have to register once.Yes, but only once. To do this, sign into your library account and tick the check box for creating a print and copy account as outlined in the PaperCut print guide.

If I don’t pick up my print job for a few hours will it still be there when I try and collect it?

A – Yes, the print job is queued for up to 48 hours after it is sent to print. After that point it is deleted.

What happens if I lose/forget my card?

If you have lost your card you will need to purchase a new one. Click here for more information regarding lost cards.
If you have forgotten your card you can be issued with a temporary ticket. Click here for more information.

What happens to my old print credit?

A – If you have existing print credit this will be transferred to the new system when you log in and register your card.
