Troup Horne Collection

The collection

Approximately 700 volumes of English and American short stories from the nineteenth and especially the twentieth centuries. The anthologies are a combination of stories by country, by author, and by genre.

 

The collector

Initially George Francis Troup Horne, Secretary of Birkbeck College (see The Times, 2 Feb. 1953, 10).

 

Acquisition

Primarily bequeathed by Troup Horne as a memorial to Margaret Cumming Troup Horne (1841-1933) in 1953. Additions are made to the collection from time to time from a modest purchase fund.
