The library sends out notices by email only. Please ensure we have your correct email address and check your emails on a regular basis.
These let you know when books are due to be returned. They are sent out three days in advance for all loans of 7, 14 or 28 days and one day in advance for 2 day loans from the NYU and ICOMM teaching collection and one day in advance for 3 day loans from the NCH collection.
These are sent to inform you that a book currently checked out to your account has been requested by another user and so it cannot be renewed beyond its current due date.
Fines are charged at 30p per day for each day that the library is open. Overdue notices are sent out to remind you that the item(s) is/are overdue. The first one is sent out one day after the due date. The second is sent four days after the due date. The third is sent out eight days after the due date. The fourth is sent out 16 days after the due date. The fifth is sent out 25 days after the due date.
If a book has still not been returned 34 days after the due date, a notice regarding replacing it is sent out. If the book is then returned, there is a fine of up to £10.20 to pay, as fines are charged at 30p per day for each day that the library is open. If the book has been lost, you may either pay the replacement fee of £50, or buy a replacement copy and pay a £10 administration fee.
If the book remains as billed on your account, a reminder notice regarding either returning or replacing it, is sent out at the beginning of each week. If you have a billed book, you will be unable to use the Library until the billed book has been returned or replaced.
Fines notices are sent out the day after an item has been returned to inform you of fines accrued as a result of either its late return and/or also previous late renewal (s).
Reservation notices are sent out notifying you that a book you requested is ready to be collected. Reservations are held for eight days and can be collected from the Self-Service Hold-Shelf in the 4th floor Service Hall. Items ordered from the Stack Service and Offsite Store are kept behind the 4th floor Service Desk and must be collected from there. If you would rather collect all of your reserved books from the Service Desk, you can specify this when you place your reservation.

While the Library makes every effort to contact readers, we cannot confirm or guarantee delivery of reminder notices. Failure to receive a notice, for whatever reason, will not be accepted as a valid reason not paying a fine.

You MUST adjust your account to allow our notices to pass through the default filter.
